Villa ZEN

Location: Prague, Czech Republic

The house with its shell submits to the context, is solitary in its own garden, respects street and building lines, respects the heights and scale of the surroundings. Although distinctly contemporary, it retains the traditional ratio of open sections in favor of plastered surfaces. Uniqueness, openness, transparency and inner freedom are realized inside the shell. Inside the rather banal frame of the house, opposing principles are locked together like pieces of an oriental puzzle. Like yin and yang in 3D. Parts of the exterior and interior, pompous elevated spaces and intimate, almost utilitarian rooms are mixed here in the right-hand male principle. Representational and intimate, visible and hidden, matter and emptiness, light and shadow mix here. One defining itself in relation to the other, but needing the other to express itself..
